Doing the things you love....

It's probably time that I put my life into perspective - to differentiate between the things I have been doing and the things that I love doing. But what do you do when the things that you love doing, require you to continue to do the things you have been doing in order to afford it? Tough choice. What does one do? How does one make a decision? Growing up is hard to do !!

The first quarter of the year

What a year it has been so far !! And I don't necessarily mean it in a good way. The saying "Time and Tide waits for no man" could not be more right. While most of us must have made a number of resolutions for the year, I bet we would not have even been able to achieve 10% ... and why? Work takes up too much of our time, we say... Need to make a bigger effort for family life, we say... Need to make time, we say....

These excuses make us feel a 'wee' bit better about our failure to achieve those enthusiastic goals we set for ourselves at the commencement of the new year. I am no exception. I started with 10, but sheepishly agreed that I would probably only end up doing 5, but at the rate I am going, I may be lucky if I complete 2... So I make another resolution - to complete at least a few resolutions so I know that I didn't start the year wasting my time thinking about something I had no intention of seeing through...

With that, I bid you goodnight dear computer - till the next time I remember that I have a blogger ID !!

Back after long

I am writing a blog after more than a year now and I didn't really miss it. But as we bring in 2012, I want to make a resolution - to pay more attention to writing and letting go of stuff that really bothers me, like relationships or rather a lack of them.

2011 was one of the toughest years for me - having ended it very differently that when it began. Things changed - I needed to re-direct my life. People came and went and I didn't get to do half the things I wanted to... So my resolution this year is to turn it around, do different things and more importantly find a way to be happy with what I have and not crave the things I don't

Friendship

How many times have we heard that we should never underestimate the value of true friendship? But do we really know what that means? Do we take our friends for granted? I'll answer that just for me - I have and yes, unfortunately, may do so in the future, I'm not perfect after all.

Having grudgingly admitted this, I would like to point out that I have some of the best sets of friends that one could hope for in a lifetime, current and ex work friends, college mates, school chums, hometown buddies, some close new friends - all of whom, I know, will be there for me when I really need them, and for that I'm grateful.

Chatting and laughing over dinner last night with some really close buddies (admittedly, on and off, my eyes kept deviating towards the IPL game - MI vs RCB), I realized that I do have some fabulous friends. Even though we all have separate interests, it doesn't matter when were having a good time together. Catching up on our variegated lives always brings out a ton of laughs and good-natured snipes. I really needed some light-hearted fun after a few tough days at work. These are guys who will stop what they are doing at the drop of a hat and come to my rescue when I need them.

So here is a huge thank you to my good friends, to everyone that has made a huge difference to my life (apart from my family of course :)I must have done something right!!

Love for Cricket

With the onslaught of the 20-20 version of cricket, I had long forgotten the excitement of the 50 over version of the game, but yesterday's match and more importantly Sachin's irrefutable prowess, gave me a new found respect for the game.

A couple of years ago, he was criticised, there were even calls for his retirement... Why? Critics claimed that he wasn't capable of delivering during crunch situations, that his ability had diminished, that he was no longer fit.... But over and over again, Sachin has proved them wrong. Yesterday, he climbed the Everest of cricket, scaling heights never known before.

So c'mon all you critics, what do you have to say to Sachin now? Hang your heads in shame and crawl back under the rocks you emerged from.

Sachin, bring home the 2011 World Cup....

First timer

I have been reading friends/random people's blogs for a few months now so I figured that I should perhaps try it out to see what the hoopla is all about.... I guess at this point it feels no different than a Dear Diary composition, maybe in time I will grow more fond of it.... or maybe not, only time will tell....

Does one blog about everything under the sun? Everything that comes to mind MUST be penned down? I can't wait to see whether I develop as a blogger....

Till then, I'm going to give this new step a 5 out of 10 in my book.
